Jim Wrinn tribute video — a compilation: Trains.com and Kalmbach Media are proud to celebrate the rail journalism life of Jim Wrinn. For the 17 years Jim served as Trains’ Editor — his dream job — Jim was a leader in trying new ways to reach audiences and going great distances to “get the story.”

Please enjoy this compilation video showing-off some of Jim’s video highlights. These include Jim as “pitchman” for the magazine, hosting a tour of Kalmbach’s offices, speaking at Trains’ 75th anniversary dinner in 2015, recordings of his live-stream broadcasts working with Big Boy No. 4014 in 2013 in Pomona, Calif., and even from as far away as Peru.

We’ll miss you, Jim.

  1. I was unaware that Mr. Wrinn had passed away until i saw this video tribute to him. I enjoyed the tribute, very well done, but it made me very sad to know that he is gone from us after all those wonderful years watching his videos of trains and reading trains magazine. he will be sorely missed. RIP Jim.

  2. Will miss him. Always enjoyed his broadcasts from track side and following the engines . R.I.P. Jim

  3. A moving tribute to a gentleman who clearly loved people and railroading. My sympathy to Jim’s family and many friends.

  4. What a fine tribute to Jim.
He will be missed, but not forgotten.
He lives on in so, so many ways.

  5. I never met Jim but as a subscriber since 1983 I have to say his passion for trains (the machines) and Trains (the magazine) was nothing short of infectious. A delightful tribute. My condolences to his family and to all his friends and colleagues at Kalmbach.
