A: The city of Cincinnati owns the Cincinnati Southern Railway from Cincinnati to Chattanooga and leases its use to the Cincinnati, New Orleans & Texas Pacific, which is a subsidiary of Norfolk Southern. According to a source close to Norfolk Southern, outparcels (which includes yards) along the route may be owned by either NS or Cincinnati Southern — the name of the railroad company that the city of Cincinnati owns.
