SEATTLE — Julie Timm, currently CEO of the Greater Richmond (Va.) Transit Co., has been recommended by a selection committee for the CEO position of Sound Transit.
The full Sound Transit board will vote on the nomination June 23, after the board’s committee made its recommendation last week. Timm was selected from a group of more than 90 applicants.
Timm currently oversees a transit agency with more than that provides bus service in the Richmond area. Previously, she was chief development officer for the Nashville, Tenn., agency, WeGo Public Transit.
“Julie Timm’s deep experience, leadership skills and passion for public transportation will make her a great leader for Sound Transit as we work to deliver the largest transit expansion program in the nation and dramatically expand our operations in the years ahead,” Sound Transit board chairman Kent Keel said in a press release.
“I am thrilled and humbled to be considered for the opportunity to support the Sound Transit Board and staff in delivering investments that are truly transformative and historic in their scale and impact,” Timm said in the release.
I hope she has experience with cost over-runs and delays on major infrastructure projects.
This seems to be a major issue at Sound Transit these days ……
So another Transit agency hires someone with no real railroad experience ?? Doesn’t sound too smart.
