ROMNEY, W.Va. – The Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is offering a 100-mile, nine-hour excursion covering the full length of the railroad on Nov. 1. The railroad normally operates excursion trips of closer to 35 miles over the state owned South Branch Valley Railroad, a former Baltimore & Ohio branch line in eastern West Virginia.

The train will depart from Wappocoma Station in Romney at 9 a.m. on Saturday. It will operate to Green Springs, back through Romney to Petersburg for a late lunch stop, and then back to Romney.

“People come from all over,” says President David Corbitt about the special trip. “This is the one chance this year to ride the whole route.”

He says the railroad will normally operate one public excursion over the full length of the line each season, but that charters are always an option for large groups to see the full line.

Corbitt tells Trains News Wire that the special trip has already seen strong ticket sales. He says much of the railroad’s ridership comes from the Baltimore, Washington, and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas.

Tickets are $90 for adults, $80 for seniors older than 60, and $30 for children 4-12. Children 3 and younger are free. To purchase tickets, or to learn more about the railroad, go to www.potomaceagle.info.
