OCONEE, Ga. — An estimated 32 cars of a westbound Norfolk Southern freight train derailed early Monday morning in downtown Oconee, blocking a main street until further notice. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports the derailment occurred about 1 a.m., blocking Central Drive in Oconee, a community of 280 about 60 miles southwest of Augusta, Ga. No injuries were reported.

  1. Almost looks like a wreck on my HO layout. With the lighting and the grass in the field (looks like carpeting ) looks like it could be a model. But they saved a few bucks. They missed the fire hydrant

  2. Not sure exactly what happened, but this is clearly more than just a few cars who jumped the track. jackknifed, on the side, etc. What a mess!
