Canadian Pacific has repainted one of its locomotives to recognize container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, the key customer in the railroad’s container service from Port Saint John, New Brunswick, that began earlier this year. The orange ES44AC, No. 8781, was photographed Thursday at CP’s Bensenville Yard in Franklin Park, Ill. – Bruce Leighty

  1. Not only do I like CP, my favorite locomotive is an, all orange, old, but still running RS-3, from the Greenwich & Johnsonville, now Battenkill RR, the G&J 4116. BUT more importantly, my great grandmother was a stewardess on a Hapag-Lloyd ocean liner when she dropped off her daughter in NYC to live with an Aunt in 1910!

    1. JAMES — You might want to look up a recent history book, “Maiden Voyages” which is about seafaring woman like your great grandmother.

    1. CP has now rolled out two consecutive all orange paint jobs and it would have been cool if the last one had debuted on Halloween! Did not miss by much.

    1. Orange does seem to be CP’s latest trend. Perhaps, they will venture down a pink path one day!
