Canadian National logoMONTREAL — Canadian National has announced it will require COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees in Canada by Nov. 1.

In a press release, the railroad says the policy will apply to employees, new hires, those at CN’s wholly owned subsidiaries, and “contractors, consultants, agents and suppliers, and anyone who accesses CN’s Canadian properties. Requests for medical or religious exemptions will be considered by CN on an individual basis.”

CN says the move is in keeping with measures announced by the Canadian government, which said last month it would require proof of vaccination for rail, air, and marine workers, as well as  many passengers [see “Canada to require COVID-19 vaccinations for transportation workers …,” Trains News Wire, Aug. 16, 2021].

  1. Just remember folks, a flu shot isn’t a 100% effective. We are now finding that the Covid shots aren’t 100 percent effective. The next variant of Covid won’t have a shot that is 100 percent effective. Sadly that is what viruses do, they mutant, always have, probably always will.
As an old man I have gotten my shots as my Virologist daughter would kick my rear if I didn’t have them.

  2. Let me clarify. I’m not anti vax. I work for CN and I have my vax. I just don’t think forced vax is the right way to go. In my opinion the unvaxed are only a treat to them selves. Forcing people to get it will only make them more resistant to it.

  3. As of September 9th, on a 7 day average, Tennessee is the worst state for covid infections with daily cases at 1,132 per million. Saskatchewan is the worst Canadian province at 308 p/million. Eight of the ten provinces are better than the best U.S. state which is Connecticut.
There have been 650,000 covid deaths in the U.S. and in Canada, with 1/10th the population, 27,000 deaths.
Canada is doing very well protecting its citizens by following procedures such as CN is doing.

  4. All of the railroads should follow CN’s lead especially if they require US employees too, which they should. Don’t want to get vaccinated?, take a hike boo hoo.

    1. What is so great about it?. It doesn’t work, it’s not safe, it’s killing people. Hell I know more that have died after getting the shot then I know that have died from covid one with in 12 hrs after the 2nd shot in the Hospital. And yes the Doctor told his Wife it was Heart Failure do to a Reaction to the vaccine.

  5. Scott, I don’t say anything derogatory about the United States, you should keep your negative attitude to yourself.
And if your a Canadian, I feel sorry for you.

  6. Scott,

B.S. This is a worldwide emergency. It’s attitudes like that are the reason we haven’t defeated this virus in the US.

    1. You will never defeat this virus it will keep on mutating and the funny thing is IT’S MUTATING IN THE VACCINATED just look at Israel where over 65% of the sick people in the hospital are vaccinated.

    1. Lots of differences. Nazi Germany was led by a cabal of vile men who were way way way to powerful, in the extremely extreme. Canada is ruled by a giggling glorified schoolgirl. I love Canada but I can’t say a single good thing about the Canadian government.

      Maple Leaf Forever.

    2. What kind of ignorant comment is that? Want to work for CN, get a shot. if you don’t, move on down the line. Maybe someone elsewhere will hire you.

    3. Just show what kind of Sheep are out there DO AS WE SAY OR WE’LL SLAP YOUR HAND you all make me sick ON BALLS.
