Trains LIVE — 11-23-2022 — There is no doubt that Ted Rose ranks in the upper echelons of railroad artists. Rose, born in Milwaukee in 1940, rendered hundreds of watercolor paintings and monotypes during his career. Sadly, he passed in 2002, however, the artistic legacy he left behind gives us the opportunity to explore his perspective of American railroads and the watercolor medium. This is Trains LIVE – In the traces.

On Nov. 25-27, 2022, the Rose family is offering an exhibit of Ted’s remaining works. The event takes place at La Fonda on the Plaza, a former Santa Fe Railway/Harvey House hotel, in Santa Fe, N.M. In advance of the exhibit, Trains Live sat down for a conversation with Molly Rose, Ted’s daughter. We talked about her father as an artist, his time with then-Kalmbach Publishing, and the legacy of his artistic works. While the exhibit will come and pass, Rose’s influence on railroad art and the watercolor medium will be long lasting.

Come along as we explore the life and art of Ted Rose in the traces on Trains LIVE.
