Choices
All journeys begin and end at Wappocoma Station, just north of Romney. Journey across the rolling countryside with historic farms and buildings to the Trough Canyon, which is carved by the South Branch of the Potomac River. The narrated trip tells how George Washington named the canyon during a surveying expedition. The heavily forested steep canyon walls and the South Branch waters provide the perfect habitat for American bald eagles. Immerse yourself in nature and the canyon environment aboard our open-top gondola which offers amazing scenic views. Choose from four classes of service. The Trough Canyon excursions are 3-hour round trips 35 miles southbound to Sycamore Bridge with no layover.
