PITTSBURGH — Wabtec Corp. will provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for 56 new rapid transit trainsets being built for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority by Stadler, Wabtec has announced.

The contract calls for Wabtec to provide 336 HVAC units, 224 of them for passenger cars and 112 for operator cabins.

“We are proud to be supporting the fleet renewal for Atlanta’s public transit system and expand our transit operations in the United States,” Pino Cordini, managing director for Wabtec’s transit segment, said in a press release. “Our service-proven HVAC system will improve the passenger experience by providing a comfortable cabin environment on MARTA trains regardless of extreme seasonal temperature.”

Stadler will provide 56 four-car CQ400 trainsets as part of the order initially agreed to in 2019.
