CHICAGO — The locomotive of an Amtrak Michigan Service train derailed at Chicago Union Station on Friday, leading to some Metra delays and cancellations as well as Amtrak delays.
No injures were reported.
Patch.com reports the derailment occurred as the Amtrak train arrived from Michigan.
Metra informed customers on Twitter that three SouthWest Service trains were cancelled as a result of derailment, while BNSF Line trains experienced delays of up to 35 minutes. Those two services share Union Station’s South Concourse platforms with the Michigan Service trains. Amtrak’s Wolverine No. 352 was about an hour late leaving Chicago on Friday, according to the Amtrak Alerts Twitter feed.
