Teamsters_Canada_logoMONTREAL — The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference is holding a vote among its 3,000 Canadian Pacific employees over a potential strike against the railroad. The union, which represents engineers, conductors, crew members, and yardpersons, says it is in a dispute in which wages, benefits, and pensions are the main issues.

Results of the strike vote will be tabulated late this month, the union said in a press release.

The union has served a Notice of Dispute to Canada’s Minister of Labor, who appointed a conciliator/mediator. Both sides are currently meeting with the conciliator; a work stoppage can only take place 21 days after the end of the conciliation process.
