WAUKESHA, Wis. — Late cancellations mean a few spaces have opened up on Trains Magazine’s Majestic Switzerland 2023 tour, set for Sept. 14-25, and limited to a maximum of 30 participants.

The 2024 edition of the tour, organized by Trains’ partners at Special Interest Tours, is also now available.

Join one of Trains’ staff members on the 2023 tour, which begins and ends in Zurich. It will include 10 rail excursions, among them the Bernina Express and Gotthard Panorama Express trains; a Furka Pass steam excursion; and Jungfraujoch, Pilatus, and Rigi cog railway trips. The package includes 11 nights of hotels, 21 meals, and a 15-day Swiss Travel Pass — allowing you time for individual exploration after the conclusion of the tour. More complete details, including a day-by-day itinerary, are available at the Special Interest Tours website.

  1. Just took this trip about 3 weeks ago as part of a larger vacation. Swiss railways in general are most impressive, but the Bernina Express was unforgettable. And I suspect the scenery at the top of the Alps will be even more spectacular in September than it was in late June. Also took the “Golden” trip to the top of Mt. Pilatus, which included a short bus trip to Kriens, two gondola legs to the summit, the Pilatusbahn cog railway back down to Alpnachtsee, and a boat trip back up the lake to Luzern. Worth every penny, a great way to spend an afternoon.
