
PORT CLINTON, Pa. — The Reading & Northern has announced its 2025 Fall Foliage excursion schedule, including three trips to be powered by T-1 class 4-8-4 No. 2102.
Tickets for the trips will go on sale Tuesday, May 27. Five weekends of excursions are planned, beginning Saturday, Oct. 4, and concluding Sunday, Nov. 2.
Trips to Jim Thorpe, Pa., from the railroad’s Reading Outer Station will feature the railroad’s vintage F unit locomotives, except for the steam-powered trips featuring No. 2012 on Oct. 4, 18, and 25. Those trips will also make a stop in Port Clinton. All trips will depart at 9 a.m. and offer standard coach, Crown Class coach, Vista Dome, Lounge, Parlor Car, and Pullman accommodations.
Trips from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Station in Pittston, Pa., will depart at 8:45 a.m. and offer coach, Crown Class coach, Vista Dome, and Lounge Observation seating. Those trips to Jim Thorpe will also include an intermediate stop at Penobscot (Mountain Top). There will also be trips from Pottsville Union Station utilizing the railroad’s Rail Diesel Cars, with scheduled intermediate stops at Schuylkill Haven and Tamaqua, as well as a new flag stop at the Village of Houser’s Crossing. Those trains will depart Pottsville at 8:30 a.m., with tickets priced at $49.
Tickets for the Fall Foliage trips will go on sale at 9 a.m. on May 27, and will be available at the railroad’s passenger website, or by calling the R&N Passenger Office at 610-562-2102.
The railroad’s Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway will operate hourly during Fall Foliage weekends, with departures from Jim Thorpe beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m. Tickets are available for those trips on a first-come, first-served basis and are sold only on the day of travel, with standard coach, Crown Class coach, and Open-Air Car seating available.
