Railcar parts firm Comet Industries acquires Seneca Railroad and Mining

Logo of railcar parts firm Comet IndustriesKANSAS CITY, Mo. — Comet Industries, which specializes in sales of new and reconditioned freight car parts, will acquire Seneca Railroad and Mining of Bellevue, Ohio, which manufactures insulated rail joints, rubber plates, and pads used for railroad crossings, turnouts and switches.

“We are pleased to add the Seneca team and their offers to our group,” Comet Industries President Steve Woodson said in a press release. “We believe this certainly complements our current offerings, and we look to enhance the strong legacy of both companies.

RR Mergers & Acquisitions, an advisory service for rail-focused companies, advised Seneca on the transaction.

“We are excited to become part of the Comet family,” Seneca President Ray Wasson said. “We look forward to incorporating their experience and knowledge to better serve our diverse customer base.”
