AVENTURA, Fla. — Brightline passenger service from the new Aventura station north of Miami, which was slated to begin Wednesday (Dec. 21) after ceremonies Tuesday marking its completion, has been postponed over delays in final construction inspections, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Brightline spokeswoman Vanessa Alfonso told the newspaper the issue involved the stations’s elevator permits. “We are working around the clock to get these issues resolved as soon as possible,” she said. “We will share updates as they become available.”
As of Thursday morning, a message at the top of the Brightline website read that the Aventura schedule “is being adjusted as we implement finishing touches.” It reiterated the note about working around the clock and asked customers to check back for updates.
The Sun-Sentinel obtained a message to one passenger who had booked travel Wednesday from Aventura, informing the customer the trip had been cancelled and offering a $50 credit for future travel.
The passenger operator’s other new station, at Boca Raton, opened Wednesday as scheduled.
