FALL RIVER, Mass. — A public meeting scheduled by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to address issues with its new South Coast Rail commuter service has been postponed because of weather concerns.
The meeting, which had been scheduled for this evening at Morton Middle School, will now be held June 5 at a location yet to be announced. The information will be posted at this page on the MBTA website when it becomes available.
The meeting will feature MBTA CEO Phillip Eng and other representatives of the MBTA and contract commuter operator Keolis to discuss issues including weekend service cancellations, staffing, and noise.
Service on what is now known on as the Fall River/New Bedford Line launched on March 24, but was plagued in its first month by delays and other issues attributed by Keolis to a lack of qualified crews for the route [see “After first-month issues, MBTA extends …,” Trains News Wire, April 26, 2025].
The meeting was postponed because of a forecast for high winds, rain, and the possibility of flooding.
It would only make sense that the meeting was cancelled. Nothing about this service has been on time. It is going to rain and be windy, oh my better cancel all your plans.
