DALLAS — Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail service remains disrupted today (Thursday, July 31) after a Wednesday afternoon fire on a light-rail train that sent six people to the hospital
As of 5 a.m. CT, DART said power had been restored to its lines in the Central Business District, with limited rail service operating between Victory station, Dallas Union Station, and the Pearl/Arts District station. DART workers are on hand to assist riders at the CBD, Union, Victory, Deep Ellum, Cityplace, and Mockingbird stations. Bus bridges and or transfers are necessary on most lines in the downtown area. Details are available here.
Crews worked more than 12 hours to restore power after the fire halted a train at the entrance to a tunnel near the Pearl/Arts District station, WFAA-TV reports.
The fire on the trailing unit of a light rail vehicle was reported about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday [see “Six hospitalized …,” Trains News Wire, July 30, 2025]. Updated figures say about 30 people were onboard at the time, with 15 injured. Injuries to those who were hospitalized were said to be non-life-threatening, ranging from anxiety to minor burns. The fire was extinguished by 5 p.m.
The 93-mile, four-line DART system serves 65 stations in nine cities, using three-unit articulated trainsets built by Japan’s Kinki Sharyo.
