CSX logoJACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Transportation will contribute $200,000 to support Hurricane Ian relief and recovery efforts in Florida and South Carolina, the company announced Friday.

“CSX cares deeply about the communities where we operate and our thoughts are with all those in Florida and South Carolina that have been impacted by Hurricane Ian,” CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs said. “We are pleased to make this contribution towards recovery efforts and to ensure the delivery of critical resources to our neighbors in these communities where so many of our CSX employees, customers and partners call home.”

American Red Cross will receive $150,000, with Florida’s Disaster Fund receiving $50,000. CSX will also provide a dollar-for-dollar match to donations made to the CSX Employees Disaster Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to employees who have suffered severe damage to their homes and property.

  1. Very nice and laudable gesture. Having some personal experience with disaster relief via rail in Florida, there will be thousands of new carloads over at least a two year span to rebuild and replenish the homes and businesses in the southwest Florida areas that are devastated by Ian. Get those rails ready SGLR.

  2. Meanwhile, Nashville extends its welcome mat to CSX Transportation to move its headquarters there with a stately new skyscraper at the Gulph downtown that could be the tallest building in the city and the State of Tennessee.
