Cement-products firm opens new facility on Oregon short line

Eco Materials plant in Lakeview, Ore., is company’s second rail-served site opened this year

Logo of Eco Material TechnologiesLAKEVIEW, Ore. — Eco Material Technologies, producer of green cement products and supplementary cementitious materials, opened a new plant in southern Oregon today (July 29, 2025). It is the companyy’s first facility in the Pacific Northwest.

The Lakeview Plant is located on the Goose Lake Railway, operator of the county-owned former Southern Pacific line connecting Lakeview to Alturas, Calif.

The plant is capable of producting up to 300,000 tons of low-carbon cement replacements per year. Eco’s products can reduce the carbon footprint of the cement portion of producers’ concrete by up to 80%.

“This facility represents more than just a new plant—it’s a powerful investment in Lake County’s future,” Lake County Commissioner Mark Albertson said in a press release. “By pairing advanced, low-carbon building materials with local job creation and infrastructure development, Eco Material Technologies is bringing both economic vitality and environmental responsibility to our community.”

Said Eco Material CEO Grant Quasha, “The opening of the Lakeview Plant demonstrates our commitment to sustainable innovation and marks a significant step forward in expanding access to domestically produced, low‑carbon cement alternatives.”

It is the second rail-served facility opened this year by Eco Material, joining a terminal on the New York & Atlantic Railroad in Queens, N.Y. [see “New terminal serves …,” Trains News Wire, May 1, 2025].
