
CASS, W.Va — Cass Scenic Railroad and operator Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad has announced the return of Parade of Steam for 2025. The increasingly popular event, which began in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, is scheduled for June 14 at the Cass Depot.
According to the railroad website, up to six geared steam locomotives will be staged at the depot, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The hour-long parade will commence at 10:30 a.m., with the participants roaring past to the delight of the attendees observing from the adjacent parking lot. The festivities will also include arts and crafts, railroadiana, and food vendors. Admission to the parade is free.
The parade will be followed by an excursion to Whittaker Station, departing at 2 p.m. The afternoon round trip will be powered by two of the locomotives from the parade. Tickets are required for this excursion and can be purchased in advance.
