POMONA, Calif. — Payback can be pretty sweet, afterall.

The organization that traded Big Boy No. 4014 to the Union Pacific in 2013 said Friday it will get an excursion with the locomotive Oct. 12 and 13. According to the online Observation Platform newsletter of the Southern California Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, the excursion will take place in southern California. No other details were announced except to check www.RailGiants.org for more details as they are available.

A likely scenario would see the locomotive run a Los Angeles to Yermo, Calif., trip across Cajon Pass, observers say.

Big Boy, which debuted earlier this month on a Golden Spike sesquicentennial trip, is also set to run an Omaha, Neb.-Boone, Iowa, trip to benefit the UP Museum in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
