Learn about the new HO scale Milwaukee, Racine & Troy 4750 covered hopper from the Kalmbach Hobby Store, Atlas Model Railroad Co.’s HO scale Dash 8-40B diesel locomotive in new road numbers, and the New England Steam Corp.’s custom-decorated HO scale Philadelphia, Bethlehem & New England 52’-6” gondola. In addition, there’s viewer mail and a modeling tip in this new episode of Cody’s Office.

  1. If the steel weight has had heavy rust that results in any pitting, rust can return after cleaning and painting. A good fix for this is to visit your auto parts store and look in the paint supply section. there are products are designed to address rusted metal. Pur15 and Chassis Saver paint are two examples that work extremely well. If you don’t like the dull black finish, you can also paint over it with what ever color you need.

  2. Cody, can you help me locate a track plan article from an older issue of MR? I’m looking for an urban switching plan that I believe was published some time in the mid 80’s. Though it might have been later. If I recall correctly the article was titled ‘City Switching’. I’ve looked through the archive and haven’t been able to find it. Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  3. Cody, how do you store your decals? Lay flat or on end in envelopes? Keep in dark drawer or can they be in light? How long are decals good for in general?

  4. On the new MR&T Grain Hopper, how hard would it be to change the road number? Does this car come in only one road number? Interested in getting multiple cars for unit train.
Wish Atlas would do more 8-40Bs in Arizona Eastern (AZER)
