Q: I’m getting into model railroading again after years. Where do I start?
A: We recommend starting with our Beginners section and reading Ask Trains or working through several Free Downloads about model railroading. Trains.com Members may also enjoy entertaining video tutorials and explanations in Expert Tips and Ask MRVP — a video series from the former Model Railroader Video Plus website.
Q: Digital Command Control and computer systems are confusing. Can you help?
A: The first thing to know is that there are several different systems and different versions with varying capabilities. And you have to consider how much you want to run trains to see movement versus running trains as realistically as possible with all the built-in functions modern locomotive come equipped with. All systems do either, but some will fit your style better. We have an entire section devoted to DCC available to Trains.com members.
Q: I love watching MRVP (Model Railroader Video Plus) videos. What happened to MRVP and the videos?
A: Most of MRVP’s videos have moved to Trains.com and are available using the Video tabs like the one on the Trains.com home page. With our transition to Trains.com, MRVP has become Trains.com videos.
What happened to “Back on track” with Gerry Lione?
On your MRR web sites, how do you get a question into Cody’s Workshop ??
