ScaleTrains has released a second run of its HO General Electric ES44AC diesel locomotive. The modern six-axle road unit is decorated for Canadian Pacific (with and without Lord Strathcona’s Horse stencil), Citirail (silver, blue, and yellow), CSX (armed forces, first responders, and law enforcement schemes in one road number each), Ferromex (original red, white, and green), Norfolk Southern (Thoroughbred scheme and Interstate, original Norfolk Southern, Pennsylvania RR, and Southern Ry. heritage units), and Union Pacific (“Building America” scheme and No. 7964 with the “5,000th Evolution Series Locomotive” panel on the cab side).

Features on the ScaleTrains HO General Electric ES44AC include an injection-molded plastic body, die-cast metal underframe, and railroad-specific details. Additional features include light-emitting-diode lighting, working ditch lights, a prototype-specific cast brass air horn, etched-metal see-through radiator intake and exhaust grills, factory-installed and painted wire grab irons, tinted cab side windows, dual cab side blue flag holder, die-cast metal semi-scale standard Type E knuckle couplers (without trip pins), and sand box cleanouts with knuckle buster latches. The ScaleTrains HO General Electric ES44AC has a minimum radius of 18” and a recommend radius of 22”.

Direct-current models with a 21-pin connector are priced at $194.99. Models with a dual-mode ESU LokSound 5 sound decoder with Full Throttle, dual cube-type speakers, and an ESU-designed Power Pack with two super capacitors sells for $284.99.
