Trustee for Saratoga & North Creek seeks more time from STB for potential sale

The trustee for the Saratoga & North Creek Railway, one of the properties involved in the bankruptcy of Iowa Pacific’s San Luis & Rio Grande, has asked the Surface Transportation board to delay action for an additional 120 days on abandonment proceedings for the New York rail line. In a Monday filing, trustee William A. Brandt Jr. wrote that he is currently in discussion with potential buyers of the line, and that a sale would maximize the value of the line for creditors while preserving “the economic benefit in maintaining railroad operations in upstate New York.”
