BRUNSWICK, Mo. — Service interrupted due to a bridge out on Norfolk Southern between Kansas City and Moberly, Mo., is expected to resume in three to four weeks, according to NS officials.
Heavy rains and debris washed away the bridge over the Grand River west of Brunswick October 1 on the NS Kansas City District.
Traffic originating or terminating in Kansas City is delayed 48 to 72 hours.
The Kansas City intermodal terminal is open and NS is accepting traffic for Kansas City from all their intermodal terminals.
“Norfolk Southern has entered into agreements with our interline partners to detour traffic over alternative gateways through the duration of the outage,” railroad officials say.
Floods plagued other Class I railroads in the Midwest and Mid-South during the late winter and the spring, with service interruptions on Union Pacific, BNSF, Kansas City Southern, Canadian Pacific, and Amtrak.
