ALBANY, Ore. — The Albany & Eastern Railroad in Oregon has published its 2017 schedule for its Santiam excursion trains. This year, several holiday themed excursions trains will take passengers along the 17-mile Sweet Home branch line, a rail line built by the Oregon Electric Co. in 1930.

Beginning April 1, a Growler N Grub train will give passengers the chance to try local food and beverages on an excursion train from Lebanon, Ore. Other trains, including a Sunday Brunch special and an Easter train, are among April attractions offered by the shortline railroad and its tourist operation.

The railroad’s full season will wrap up in December after a series of holiday themed train rides.

The Albany & Eastern Railroad is a privately owned short line with several freight customers and a tourist operation. The railroad operates on former Oregon Electric Co. and Southern Pacific tracks in the lumber hauling communities of northwestern Oregon.
