SCRANTON, Pa. — Tickets for Steamtown National Historic Site’s upcoming schedule of autumn excursions are now available for purchase online. Selected days in September and October will see diesel-powered, full-day trips depart from the National Park to Gouldsboro, Carbondale, Tobyhanna, or Cresco.
Autumn excursion schedule includes these dates. Tickets can be purchased at recreation.gov:
- Sept. 23: Carbondale – Autumn Marketplace
- Oct. 7: Tobyhanna – Fall Foliage, Ice House Tour
- Oct. 15: Cresco – Leaf Peeper Excursion
- Oct. 28: Gouldsboro – Ghoulsboro Halloween
The shorter Scranton Limited, Nay Aug Limited and Caboose Experience train rides will continue to operate Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through November, as staffing permits. The Caboose Experience will replace both the Scranton Limited and Nay Aug Limited when the autumn excursions operate on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7, 15, and 28. It’s anticipated to see 0-6-0 steam locomotive No. 26 powering the Scranton Limited and Caboose Experience at Steamtown’s yard on selected days. Tickets for these trips are only available at the park’s Tickets & Information Kiosk, on the day of the public’s visit.
Located in downtown Scranton, Steamtown is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, visit the Park website.
I believe the power will be GVT diesels, not 0-6-0 26.
I believe the two F3A units are available. ARHS is working on getting the B-unit running.
In the name of the steam and diesel power brotherhood/sisterhood, let your jolly trains run this autumn again, folks!
