  1. In the UK, all trains operating on the main line have to have certain modern systems operating. A form of PTC for steam locos is being developed. However they already have a system called TPWS or Train Protection and Warning System that activates the brakes if they pass a restricted signal too fast. They also have an eventblogger called OTMR or on Train Monitoring and Recording.
