Changes effective Jan. 19 include suspension of Business Class service

VIA Rail Canada logoMONTREAL — VIA Rail Canada will reduce service in its Quebec City-Windsor, Ontario, corridor beginning Jan. 19  because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the passenger carrier announced.

“These decisions, while difficult, are consistent with the balanced approach we have maintained throughout the pandemic in order to fulfill our important public service mandate while proactively managing the financial impacts on our operations,” VIA CEO Cynthia Garneau said. “Every change we have made to our services has been, and continues to be, closely linked to the evolving health crisis and following market demand.”

A list of trains continuing to operate is available in this press release.

Along with the reduced frequencies, VIA will suspend Business Class service and close its Business lounges.
