Toronto GO Transit logoTORONTO, Ontario — GO Transit will increase service on a number of routes as of Aug. 7, restoring trains suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as offering new services.

The Lakeshore East and West lines, Kitchener Line, Barrie Line, and Stouffville Line will all see additional service, and some current bus service will be replaced with trains. More details are available here, with full schedules here.

Notable among the changes, hourly service will now operate seven days a week between Hamilton’s West Harbour station and Toronto’s Union Station, the first time such service has been offered. In all, the change will see service expand from a pre-COVID figure of 40 trains per week to 250 trips per week.

“Today’s news is a key step forward in our continued commitment to enhance GO service and transit connections in Hamilton, as we build a transit network to support the region’s needs for decades to come,” Phil Verster, CEO of parent agency Metrolinx, said in a press release.
