Midday Modeler Gerry Leone edition — In this episode Trains.com Executive Producer David Popp hosts a live stream cast of characters talking about model railroading. First up, Model Railroader’s Steven Otte shows off the “creamery” he is kitbashing for the 2022 kitbash dash including a nifty technique he calls, “log cabin cribbing.” Next, Cody Grivno unveils a new N scale car decorated for the MR&T layout. Finally, Model Railroader and Trains.com contributor Gerry Leone offers a layout tour in his Minnesota home.
More on the kitbash challenge is available by watching the February 16, 2022 episode.
Also in studio for Midday Modeler Gerry Leone edition were Ben Lake, Vince Clore and visitor Steve Sweeney.
Midday Modeler is a new, regular video segment, recorded live and unscripted at Kalmbach Media beginning in February 2022.
The segment features Kalmbach Media staff modeling and talking about model railroads in a casual format. It is unscripted and broadcast live via Facebook on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Central time each week. Anyone who sees the video on Facebook can comment and ask questions, or just say “hi!”.
Shortly after the Facebook live stream, the video is taken down from Facebook and posted to Trains.com where it is available only to Model Railroader Video Plus members and Trains.com Unlimited Members.

Looking at Jerry’s kit-bash service station reminds me of when i was looking to add to my 40s – early 50s HO scale layout; I actually found “Sonny’s” gas station and repair.
Wish I could post pictures along with the comment.
Thanks, all of you.
BTW, Art Curran used log-cabin bracing on many of his kit-bashing projects. Several of his MR articles and books explained the hows and whys of this technique.
You need to mike everyone. That goes for the guy who’s checking Facebook for questions. We can’t hear him or her at all.
I totally agree. I liked the old format much better.
I assume you are using Zoom for the remote locations. How do you make such a clean switch.
Our NMRA division meetings could use this refinement!
I noticed you discussing “Back On Track” as a series during this program, but I wonder why “Back On Track” isn’t a menu selection on the video and series/series menu listing on Trains.com. Same question regarding the Olympia series programs on the series menu, or the ‘project railroads’ or ‘project layouts’ section of the ‘layout’ selection under the ‘video and photos’ listing. Seems to me that the menu structure from the MRVP web page would provide a better example for your web developer to use; one that provides the subscribers an easier method of finding the revelant programs than currently exists.
You also mentioned the ‘Olympia 3″ series program, but I am unable to find it – is there a path to this video on the Trains.com web page?
Thanks – I really enjoy David and company, and their method of presenting information. Keep up the good work.
I have a feeling that right now they do not have a dedicated web programmer: they have had a job opening for a wordpress developer for quite some time.
Put a mic on Vince so the questions and comments are intelligible
I was going to make the same suggestion. It’s really hard to make out what he’s saying. Love MR Midday Modeller.
Great episode of midday modeler, especially liked Steve’s log cabin roof bracing, brilliant idea and will be used on my layout as well. The session with Gerry is always entertaining and informative, the new layout looks great and should be fun to see operating. We have several of those old gas stations around WV that have been restored to other uses. Thanks guys, stay safe.
Really happy to see the progress on the BV5, excited for back on track to have a better schedule!
Really enjoying the Midday Modeler series although I tend to watch the recording on Trains.com. I especialiy like the format and fact that it is on weekly. I will admit I due still miss Cody’s Office but this is a good replacement.
Today’s episode was great with having Gerry Leone participating.
Thanks David, keep on with the great programming.

Finding the newer videos on “Trains.com” is not always easy. Your indexing leaves something to be desired. The lists under “videos” is far from complete. Please try to make it easier.
It’s a nightmare trying to find new videos. I’m sure I’m missing a bunch of them.
