Midday Modeler — 05.18.2022 — This week hosted by Hal Miller.

This week Hal and company offer up modeling tips, tricks, and updates. Hal and Cody Grivno start off with a review of new shiny red and chrome Santa Fe locomotives in large scale.

Hal offers up smoke fluid demonstrations. David Popp and Brian Schmidt show off their latest progress on their Depot Dash Kitbash builds and Eric White stops by with new Kalmbach Books!

The kitbash challenge this year features N scale and HO scale models from Walthers. The models are based on a Union Pacific depot prototype.

Midday Modeler is a new, regular video segment, recorded live and unscripted at Kalmbach Media beginning in February 2022.

The segment features Kalmbach Media staff modeling and talking about model railroads in a casual format. It is unscripted and broadcast live via Facebook on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Central time each week. Anyone who sees the video on Facebook can comment and ask questions, or just say “hi!”

Shortly after the Facebook live stream, the Midday Modeler — 05.18.2022 video is taken down from Facebook and posted to Trains.com where it is available only to Model Railroader Video Plus members and Trains.com Unlimited Members.

  1. Great show. Based on this show, your video editors must have a lot of work on he other videos. Give them a raise. Just kidding.

  2. David, I’m with you, I love the smell of ground coffee but not the taste. My one and only time was when I was in college and was in a daily 3 hour class. We had a break at which time, we went to a catering truck to get a snack and a cup. After trying it once, I haven’t had any since and that was over 50 years ago.
When I was working for the phone company at one of their central offices, I was the first tech in at 7AM and was responsible for making the coffee. We had a Mr. Coffee unit and I always added a pinch of salt to the grounds because I heard it cut down on the bitterness of the brew. I never tasted it nor told anyone about it. Luckily, there were no negative comments, I guess everyone was please to have a hot cup when they came in!

  3. I can see the Truck on the “B” unit says Märklin, but you say LGB… Same company? I can also see what looks like a pre installed speaker behind the grill in the tank.
