  1. I thoughly enjoy watching your videos on your layout. I am starting my first H O 6 x 10 layout at the age of 87. Boy do I have a lot to learn.

  2. Is the bridge that was put in this layout a kit thst i caan buy somewhere, or was it a scratch built thing.
    Thanks

  3. Charles,
They are using JW Player to stream flash video so they may not want you to be able to download it. You can do a google search to understand the format and what you can do with it.

  4. I like the apron Dave. Is it possible to buy them or was it just a one time purchase. Also thanks for the info on the muddy river, I was planning on something similiar on my layout. Now you' ve given me some ideas on how to do so.

  5. So David: Are you going to have an article about building the Nella Store kit from KingMill? I look forward to seeing you in Medford!

  6. I look forward to seeing a E-book with videos featuring the Virginian, Salt Lake Route and the Beer line. All three show what can be done in smaller spaces.

  7. Sirs, Thank you for showing us beginners some tricks of the trade. I like your placement and the working in of the Turtle Creek section. It looks very well thought out and very realistic. By the way where can we get the, " Model Railroader " aprons? Thanks , Robert H. Hays

  8. I suspect the bear riding the train was what lead to the end of passenger service on this particular branch of the Virginian.

  9. Hi,
Please advise why I cannot download the series on the Virginian railroad building as I like to review the content when I am away with my RV and cannot get a wifi signal. Your help would be appreciated.
    regards,
    Chas Clark

  10. I am really enjoying this building of the Virginian layout. I hope you show us how you will set the scale up and how you will make it work , because i'm putting a scale on my layout and would like to have it work too.

  11. Why don't you make a dvd about building the HO Virginian Ry?
I would the first to buy it! There is so much that we can learn from this series! Nice job, weldone! Greetings from Belgium.

  12. great layout guys.great tip on the puff ball trees we are doing the same on our layout and glorias huge n-scale in her apt. coming along very good. thk u crt/friends 4w 3m. we have renewed the subscrition of model railroader of course.

  13. I agree that the layout should could to grow and add the Carolinas with Southern Railway. By the way the mountains of the Blue Ridge, & Smokies Mountains also has clay in the mountains too. I lived in the upstate of South Carolina a few year ago near Southern, CSX, and Clinchfield lines. The bears of the Carolinas have been seen on the rails using the tracks as a trail.

  14. The layout looks great, any ideas of publishing the plans with dimensions and materials used for the scratch built buildings?
That freight house with the right color would go any where and look great.

  15. David, you brought up a very interesting point about the application of the base paint and the installation of the ground foam. I have always laid a moderate amount of paint to the area that I was adding the scenery. Once I applied the paint, I started to layer the various colors of fine ground foam, then working in the medium to coarse ground foam for texturing purposes. Although I've never run into the problem with the foam soaking up the painted undercoat, I can see that occuring. Thanks for the different prospective.

  16. Wow, Nice job. You make it look very easy to do from scratch. I really like the recycling of unused parts from past projects. Great idea on updating the older layout to fit in with the Virginian layout. I'm glad I subscribed to Model Railroader, Thanks Folks, Charlie

  17. Great work guys, really like the use of the Turtle Creek layout.
This could be a layout the grows and grows, humm, maybe all of Virginian and West Virginian.
