In this video Model Railroader associate editor Cody Grivno shows you how to get started using an airbrush. You’ll learn about some of the different types of airbrushes, how to mix paint, and proper airbrushing techniques.

  1. No matter what the cost of your brush make sure that after use you clean it very good. Your brush will only be as good as you keep it clean. Also make sure that the small air hole at the top of the cap is kept clear. This keeps the brush from creating a vacuum in the paint bottle and thus restricting the flow of the paint.

    Can you provide advice for managing a session painting with multiple colors?

    Are you breaking down the airbrush for cleaning each time or is there another method to change colors?

    Also, general tips about managing painting a structure kit with many colors; perhaps needs for multiple coats?

  6. Cody, I've been l@@king for a screen filter like the one you used in this video. Can not seem to fine one like this through Micro-Mark? Can you be of some help. I have a Paasche double action and the one Micro mark has l@@ks to Micky Mouse. As always great video, keep up the great work.

  7. When doing plaster rock faces I use water to cut paint about 50/50 it controls the color of the rocks better
