The ScaleTrains Electro-Motive Division SD7 HO scale (1:87.1) diesel locomotive is highlighted in this latest product review video from Model Railroader magazine. Senior Editor Cody Grivno explores the manufacturer’s Rivet Counter line, focusing here on the highly detailed Great Northern No. 572.
Built in April 1953, the prototype 1,500hp locomotive originally sported the iconic Empire Builder scheme before transitioning through Big Sky Blue to Burlington Northern green. The model boasts impressive features, including see-through footboard pilots, wire grab irons, and positionable cab windows.
Equipped with an ESU LokSound V5 decoder, the unit features realistic lighting and sound, including walkway lights and a three-chime air horn. Direct-current models retail for $214.99, while sound-equipped versions are priced at $324.99.
