Comments: Modelers planning an N scale layout now have more options with this new sectional track set from Kato. Part of the firm’s Unitrack line, set V11 features a double-track main line and superelevated curves.

The set comes with enough track to make a 92″ x 42″ dogbone configuration layout. The set includes seven 93/4″, one 47/8″, and one 27/16″ straight sections, one 27/16″ feeder section, eight 19″/15″ radius superelevated curves, four right 19″/15″ and four left 19″/15″ radius superelevated easement curves, and one rerailer/Unijoiner remover. If you plan to run the set with DC, you’ll need two power packs (sold separately), one for each loop.

The coolest feature of this set is the superelevated curves. As on the prototype, locomotives and cars lean into the curves.

Along with the molded “concrete” ties, the gray plastic roadbed is textured to depict track ballast. The roadbed looks fairly realistic.

The Unijoiner system, which combines rail and roadbed joiners, is easy to use and reliable.

This new Kato Unitrack set provides a good start for a modern-era layout.
