For many years Hobbyshop Window was a popular department in the pages of Model Railroader magazine. We’re excited to bring it back as an occasional feature on Trains.com. Here’s a recap of some of the items that arrived at our offices for the week ending January 30th 2026. HO scale General Electric Dash 9-44CW. This Athearn Genesis model is decorated for BNSF Ry. (Heritage I and III schemes); Arizona & California (Genesee & Wyoming scheme); Canadian National (Dash 9-44CWL); Norfolk Southern (Dash 9-40CW); Quebec, North Shore & Labrador; and Union Pacific. The HO scale model, offered in two to three numbers per scheme, features prototype-specific details; wire grab irons; see-through, etched-metal steps; and light-emitting-diode lighting. HO scale Pullman-Standard 60-foot double-door auto parts boxcar. Penn Central; Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe; Chicago & North Western; Conrail; Grand Trunk Western; Norfolk & Western; Rock Island; and Union Pacific are the road names on this WalthersMainline model. The HO scale boxcar, offered in two numbers per scheme, features factory-applied ladders, simulated end-of-car cushioning, extended draft-gear boxes, and Proto-Max metal couplers. HO scale Fox River theater car. The latest addition to Broadway Limited Imports’ growing lineup of passenger cars is based on a Chicago & North Western prototype. The HO scale Fox River theater car, priced at $129.99, is decorated for Chicago & North Western (Fox River), Canadian National (Sanford Fleming), Illinois Central (800653), Norfolk Southern (Buena Vista), and Union Pacific (Fox River, 1995-2006 and 2006-present schemes). The model, also available undecorated, features interior and underbody details, finger touch control of interior and exterior lights, and Kadee-compatible couplers. N scale Pullman-Standard PS-3 2750 three-bay hopper. New paint schemes on this Atlas Master Line car include Great Northern, CSX, Rock Island Improvement Co., Louisville & Nashville, and Seaboard System. The N scale hopper is offered in five road numbers per scheme (two single cars and one three-pack). Collectors’ Series models are lettered for Cadillac & Lake City and Pullman-Standard (10,000th PS-3) in one number each. Product features include a die-cast metal hopper and center sill, solid- or roller-bearing trucks as appropriate, an optional heap shield, and body-mounted Accumate couplers. Ballast Cars, Cabooses & Test Cars. This 64-page softcover book features reproductions of five manufacturer brochures, including Waugh Portable Test Car, Rodger Ballast Car Co. Circular Nos. 15 and 16, Hart Selective Ballast Car, and International Railway Car Co. Cabooses. The title, part of the Manufacturers’ Catalog Archive Series, is priced at $35.
