The westbound Broadway Limited is just a few miles from its destination as it pauses at Englewood Union Station on the South Side of Chicago in 1933. The Pennsylvania Railroad’s premier train traded its heavyweight cars for streamlined equipment in 1938.

  1. The PRR’s premier train was competing directly with the NYC’s 20th Century Limited… Remember that the fabled train’s name referred not to Broadway in Manhattan, but rather to the “broad way” of the PRR’s four-track right-of-way along the majority of its route.
