It’s been said that Milwaukee Road’s class F6 4-6-4s, built 1930–31, looked like they were going fast even when standing still. There does seem to be a rakish “leaning-forward” quality to this photo of nearly new No. 6402. MILW

Note that the MILW #6402 was built by BLW in January 1930 and retired in February 1954… In 1934, No. 6402 set also a short-lived world record with an officially measured speed of 103.5 mph or 166.5 km/h… Unfortunately, this memorable steam loco could not be preserved.
