Four red-and-white GP40s lead fast freight train 33, the Texas Special, into Valley Park, Mo., on Nov. 25, 1980, four days after merger with Burlington Northern.

  1. Remember that despite its name, the SLSF, commonly known as the “Frisco”, never came close to San Francisco…. Note that both 3000 hp GP40-2s (Nos. 757 & 774) were just one year old when this photo was taken.
