Rapido Trains recently announced several HO scale GO Transit models to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Toronto-area transit service in 2027. Offerings will include a General Motors Diesel Division (GMDD) GP40TC, FP7 Auxiliary Power Control Unit (APCU), and Hawker Siddeley RTC-85 single-level commuter cars, as well as boxed sets.
Leading things off is the GMDD GP40TC. The commuter locomotive will feature operating headlights, rear lights, marker lights, and inspection and walkway lights; Cannon & Co.-licensed fan designs; metal side handrails with plastic stanchions; and factory-installed metal grab irons. In addition, the model will have a variety of underbody details, including traction motor cables, air filters, and head end power cabling, along with a MoPower capacitor system for uninterrupted Digital Command Control (DCC) running.
The four-axle commuter unit, which has a suggested minimum radius of 18”, will be offered in direct current ($249.95) and with a dual-mode sound decoder ($359.95). Paint schemes on the GP40TC will include GO Transit (blue and white, green and white, early font [green and white], and late font [green and white]), CN Rail (blue, white, and black), and Amtrak (phase 3).

The GO Transit FP7 APCU, designed from EMD/GMDD blueprints and field measurements, will have a full cab interior; etched-metal grills; era-specific details; metal Macdonald-Cartier knuckle couplers; operating headlights, ditch lights (as appropriate), number boxes, class lights, and backup light; and a MoPower capacitor.
The APCU will be offered in direct current ($249.95) and with an ESU LokSound V5 decoder with accurate HEP, horn, and bell sounds ($359.95). Paint schemes will include GO Transit (green and white, early font [green and white], and late font [green and white]) and Miami TriRail.

In addition, Rapido Trains will be producing Hawker Siddeley RTC-85 single-level commuter cars. Product features will include a multi-color interior with individually installed seats, a detailed underbody with separate piping and conduit, metal grab irons, ball-bearing wheelsets, and track-powered interior lighting with a MoPower capacitor. Cab cars will have cab details, headlights, and three-color class lights.
Paint schemes on the RTC-85 cars will include AMT Montreal (coach and cab car) and GO Transit (cab car [stripes] and coach [early and late schemes]). Single coaches will be priced at $149.95, and individual cab cars will sell for $159.95.

Rounding out the GO Transit 60th anniversary offerings from Rapido Trains will be box sets containing a GMDD GP40TC, two RTC-85 coaches, and one RTC-85 cab car. Set options will include a GP40TC in the blue scheme and cars in the early scheme, a GP40TC in the early green scheme and cars in the early scheme, a GP40TC in the early green scheme and a cab car in the stripes scheme, and a GP40TC in the late green scheme and a cab car in the stripes scheme. Direct-current box sets will retail for $719.95, and sound-equipped versions will be priced at $829.95.
