The Sunset Models Amtrak NextGen Acela (Acela II) was announced at the York Train Fair, hosted by the Eastern Division of the Train Collectors Association in late October. The O scale train, based on prototypes that operate in the Northeast Corridor, will be offered in two- and three-rail versions.

The Acela II will be available as a five-piece set with power cars 2130 and 2135, business class end car 3469, cafe car 3376, and first class end car 3269. The power cars will have an ABS body and die-cast metal chassis. The passenger cars will use lightweight aluminum construction and have fully detailed interiors.

Five-piece sets with ERR (three-rail) or SoundTraxx Tsunami2 (two-rail) sound decoders will be priced at $2,849.99. Two- and three-rail sets with a SoundTraxx Blunami sound decoder will retail for $2,999.99.

Eleven piece collector sets (two locomotives, nine cars, a signed letter of authenticity, and white gloves for unboxing) will also be offered. Versions with ERR (three-rail) or SoundTraxx Tsunami2 (two-rail) sound decoders will retail for $5,399.99. Two- and three-rail sets with SoundTraxx Blunami sound decoder will be priced at $5,549.99.

In addition, Sunset Models will offer separate sale add-on cars, including business class mid cars 3695, 3696, 3697, 3698, and 3699 and business class/first class galley 3919. The models will be priced at $449.99 each.
