ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This project uses parts from NINE different Walthers kits. I suppose the Model Railroader team has a wide variety of these kits laying around, but the average modeler certainly does not. Buying these kits, based on prices as of 4-28-2021, will cost $389, not including shipping & handling. And you STILL have to provide the Alpine, Atlas, and Pikestuff kits, not to mention the assortment of bulk supplies.
This may be a wonderful example of what you can accomplish by kitbashing (given an unlimited budget), but it is NOT a project a real person would ever undertake.
Spend the $390 on a Fine Scale Miniatures Jewel Series Kit – there are plenty available on eBay – and build a wonderful large diorama from a single kit instead.
