Gunderson Bros. HO scale freight car

Tangent Scale Models unveiled a Gunderson Bros. 50-foot 6,089-cubic-foot capacity high-cube double-plug-door boxcar at the St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modelers meet in Collinsville, Ill., on Friday, July 29. This is Tangent’s second new freight car release in 2022.

The model, in stock now, is decorated for Denver & Rio Grande Western (1969 delivery scheme), Golden West Service (class B-70-43, 1996+ repaint scheme), Southern Pacific (class B-70-43, 1969 delivery scheme), and St. Louis Southwestern (class B-70-42, 1984+ repaint scheme). The boxcar is offered in 12 road numbers per scheme; an undecorated kit is also available.

Features on the model, priced at $56.95, include road-specific details, Birdsboro Foundry 70-ton Barber S-2 roller-bearing trucks, see-through etched-metal crossover platforms, Stanray ends and roof, rubber air hoses, and Kadee scale couplers.
