Midday Modeler 03.23.2022 — Welcome to another recorded LIVE Midday Modeler episode. This week, Cody Grivno hosts the live stream dream team on the HO scale MR&T layout inside Kalmbach Media’s Waukesha, Wisconsin studios.

In the room beside Cody are Ben Lake and Vince Clore. Watch the guys take a look at the almost-finished Jones Island project on the MR&T, on this week’s Midday Modeler 03.23.2022. When complete, the project will be the face for the MR&T and the most complete update for that portion since it was built more than 20 years ago.

Only from Trains.com.

Midday Modeler is a new, regular video segment, recorded live and unscripted at Kalmbach Media beginning in February 2022.

The segment features Kalmbach Media staff modeling and talking about model railroads in a casual format. It is unscripted and broadcast live via Facebook on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Central time each week. Anyone who sees the video on Facebook can comment and ask questions, or just say “hi!”.

Shortly after the Facebook live stream, the video is taken down from Facebook and posted to Trains.com where it is available only to Model Railroader Video Plus members and Trains.com Unlimited Members.

  1. Just a thought: Would be nice to see the other side of Jones Island sometime. I’m curious how it looks from the view through the windows from the hall.

  2. Blair Moody
Good Video. Interesting to watch you professionals have similar operating snafus like dead spots, and manual uncoupling. Now I don’t feel so bad when operating my layout!

  3. Great session. Nice to see the Jones Island project completed and running. Also reassuring to see (or hear) that even the pros have the sound drop out on their locomotives from time to time. I noted an area with Rix highway guardrails “curved” around a turn in the road. Is that done by heating the guardrail sections, and if so, how?

  4. Freaking awesome bridge model! Please continue to let us know when products for this are available! I love MR’s inspirational vignettes!

  5. Still the sound is lacking! I will admitt, I do suffer with hearing loss and the fact that this must not be an issue with others leads me to believe to you guys feel it’s not an issue.

  6. Great Episode Guys. Nice to see the finished product and trains running on it. I especially liked the work that Ben did on the bridge and the weathered concrete supports, nicely done. Eric’s corner is very well modeled and the park is special. Thanks guys.

  7. Terrific episode, Cody. I enjoyed watching the Jones Island module take shape and also watching a mini-op session! Well done!
