Southern Pacific class B-50-15 and B-50-16 40-foot boxcars are the latest HO scale announcements from Rapido Trains. The models are based on cars that were built in the steam era and lasted into the steam-to-diesel transition era.

The B-50-15 will be offered in the following configurations and paint schemes: Wood sides and Murphy roof (Southern Pacific 1931-1946 and 1946-1952 schemes), wood sides and Viking roof (SP 1931-1945, passenger service, 1946-1952, and maintenance of way [single car and three-pack] schemes), and steel sides and Viking roof (SP 1931-1946 and early Overnight schemes).

Variations on the B-50-16 boxcar include wood sides and Murphy roof (SP 1931-1946 and San Diego & Arizona Eastern) and steel sides and Viking roof (SP 1931-1946, 1946-1952, 1956+, and Overnight schemes).

Features on the boxcars will include corrugated and Dreadnaught ends and AB- and K-style brake systems as appropriate; separate, factory-applied ladders and grab irons; newly tooled T-section trucks; turned-metal wheelsets; Carmer uncoupling levers; metal stirrup steps; and semi-scale couplers.

Single cars will be priced at $54.95, three-packs will retail for $164.85, and six-packs will sell for $329.70.
