  1. Did I hear correctly at 2:15? Roger is saying this picked up logs from the car and “stowed them in the base.” This is not correct. It picked up logs from the base and placed them on log cars. If you had a log unloader car, that could dump the logs in the base, but this accessory isn’t what got the logs into the base.

  2. I listened to the section 3 times to see if I was hearing correctly, but did you actually say that this accessory could pick up logs from log cars and dump them in the accessory's base? (02:15) My understanding is that it picked up logs from the base area and dumped them on log cars. An action log car could dump its logs in the base of the accessory, if set up properly, but I am unaware of any ability of this accessory to pick up logs off a log car.

  3. You guys really need the ability to cut to a close up when you point to an accessory or an engine and say "look at it." Hard to when you remain on the wide shot.

  4. I have to agree with the others on seeing the accessory in operation. May be difficult to do in the environment you are filming in, but it would be worth a shot.

  5. I am pleased to see an American Flyer piece featured within the first three episodes of Roger's new video series. I agree that he should have set it up to operate or at least had a clip of it operating edited in to the video.

After seeing three of these video's I do wonder why the room itself doesn't have at least one or two items of decor or display that would help set the scene that this about collecting toy trains. I get the Professor Carp concept, but it looks like he is being filmed in my insurance agent's conference room.

I am sure Roger was not so surprised as he appeared to be that Gilbert put out an item equal to or better than Lionel, and I know that 1/3 of the videos will not feature Flyer going forward, but I will enjoy seeing them all even if I am an AF collector in a Lionel world. Thanks, Roger.

  6. Being a American Flyer operator, I may see things through two-rail track eyes, but how can you do a video on an operating accessory and not show operating? The advantage of video over print is the ability to see things in motion. Glad you have included in the best 101 or 102 or whatever best post war train pieces.

  7. Hi Roger,

While I respectfully disagree that the Gilbert #751 log loader was better than the Lionel #164, I do like the #751 very much (it works equally well with both S and O gauge trains), but I think your argument would have been better served if you had shown it in operation, as its operating characteristics are unique.
