Many of us have memories of visits to Grandma’s house from when we were kids. Menards is offering a way to recapture those memories in O gauge form with the release of Grandma’s House (2959376).
This prebuilt structure is a two-level single family home measuring 8 11/16” wide x 8 ⅜” deep x 6 ¾” high. Its windows are recessed and include window treatments (curtains), plus a chimney and what looks like terra cotta roofing.
Exterior details are plentiful! Two children occupy a porch swing. Grandma has just come out of the front door, holding an apple pie. In front of the house is Jack the German shepherd and a kneeling man (Grandpa, perhaps?).
Under the nearby tree in the front yard is a 1:48 scale motorcycle. Three round shrubs are in front of the house, and four shrubs flank the backyard. Perhaps Grandpa needs to wash the windows–a ladder rests on one side of the house.
Interesting to note that while the house includes lighting, it is only for the front porch.
Please note: Accessory lighting requires power Menard’s 4.5 volt power supply, sold separately. You can use the 279-4061/4361, 4060/4362, or 4050. Connect it through a single plug over the tabletop or from beneath the station through a hole underneath the base.
It would be a fun experiment to try hiding a small smoke unit somewhere near this structure and add apple harvest smoke. Or you could add the smoke to whatever engine you’re running. You could then smell Grandma’s apple pie fresh from the oven!
This is a nice house useful for anyone modeling any small or mid-size town. It could also stand alone as a farmhouse in a rural setting.
